2010 - Robert Lowth Year

14 January 2010: guest lecture by Ingrid Tieken-Boon van Ostade, “300 years of Robert Lowth: Late Modern English grammar and usage” at the University of Paderborn.

Spring 2010: the Leiden recorder consort Piet Kunst, led by Bernadette Pollen, plays Lowth’s elegy Cara Vale, set to music by John Wall Callcott and adapted for the recorder by Jaap Wiebes.

First semester academic year 2010-2011:

MA course: English Department/Leiden University Centre for Linguistics, University of Leiden, “300 years of Robert Lowth".

27 November 2010: Robert Lowth Day, Winchester. Speakers: John Crook, Christopher Mulvey, Arnold Ship, and Ingrid Tieken-Boon van Ostade. Seats may be booked (without any cost) from Winchester College directly. For further details, see the attached programme.

17-18 December 2010: Robert Lowth Symposium, Leiden University Centre for Linguistics, University of Leiden.
